The creation of RenderMan (RSL) and Mantra (VEX) shaders in Houdini

I noticed in my web traffic that I had some visitors coming from what appears to be a fantastic document on Renderman and Mantra shaders in Houdini over at render.ru. I unfortunately don’t understand the russian language at all, but Google Translate has let me read a bit of it. I’d definitely recommend you take a look at this if you want to get into shader building. I’d send you an email of congratulations, wiTcHer, but the website doesn’t appear to want to let me login (I probably messed something up while trying to register). The Houdini community could really stand to have this available in English!

Hi, Im Lutojar aka "Witcher" who wrote, that tutorial :).
For first, thank you for method – how to create shaders for tangent normal maps, I use it in tutor and leave link to your blog.

The purpose of that review was telling about ganeral terms of shading in Houdini in russian, because it`s very little information in russian about H. (shaders exactly).

If anybody in english-spoken sector of internet really interested about it, I can rewrite in english. But I can't say exactly when because i'm very busy in production ๐Ÿ™
But, if u make some little PR for that work at sideFX.com ๐Ÿ˜‰ I'd try to find time, and issue if faster )

    p.s.
i don't recieve any e-mail from you (maybe it was some troubles on renedr-ru – it is specific site ๐Ÿ™‚ with strange registration etc..)
    me mail: witcher.Lutojar@gmail.com

    thank you

    Hi,
Great work Witcher and great blog Allegro!

Google translate doesn't seem to tranlate the whole page but I was able to read it completely with babelfish. http://babelfish.yahoo.com

You still need the original russian to download the .hips though.

Again, great work guys, its hard to find in depth resources on VEX and RSL in Houdini.
